Another Major Quarters For Nadal

22-time major champion Rafael Nadal is back on the grass courts of Wimbledon after a hiatus of three years.

Nadal has won both the majors this year thus far and has his eyes on a third consecutive major title that would set him up for the calendar slam going into Flushing, New York next month.

In his first two rounds against Francisco Cerundulo and Ricardo Berankis, the Spaniard was off to a strong start winning the first two sets each time but then wobbled a little and lost the third before coming back to wrap up in four sets.

Nadal looked more assured in his round of 32 match against Lorenzo Sonego, where he did lose the break in the third set after winning the first two, but recovered almost immediately to wrap up a straight sets win.

Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp was his opponent in the fourth round and the first set looked even at 4-4. Serving to stay in the set, the world number 26 from the Netherlands faltered a little and Nadal took full advantage to close the set 6-4.

The Mallorcan broke early in the second set and there was no looking back in the set as he was up two sets to love before one knew it.

The third set seemed to be headed the same way with the Spaniard breaking early and up 5-2. However, Nadal was unable to serve out the set and the match at 5-3 in the third as the contest headed to a tiebreak.

Nadal looked all set to close the match at 6-3 in the tie-break but a mix of Nadal errors and van de Zandschulp aggression saw the tiebreak be even at 6-6, before Nadal clinched it 8-6 on his fourth match point.

Fritz Continues Clinical Form

American number one Taylor Fritz has had an up and down year, but has looked close to his best this fortnight at Wimbledon.

The highlight of Fritz’s season thus far has been his Indian Wells Masters 1000 title win which was also his first ever at that level.

However, it was a poor outing on the clay mixed with minor injuries as he arrived on grass  a little rusty and lost in his openers at Hertogenbosch and Queens’.

It was a more disciplined outing by the American in Eastbourne coming into Wimbledon, with Fritz winning his second Eastbourne ATP 250 title.

The strong Fritz form continued this week with him coming into the round of 16 at the back of three straight set wins.

Fritz looked in imperious form in the fourth round against Aussie Jason Kubler, as he only dropped eight games on his way to another straight sets win and booking a quarter-final spot against Nadal.

Nadal v Fritz Prediction and Tip

This could well  be the thrilling encounter that one has  been waiting for.  Expect a good tussle and Nadal will have to be close to his best against the in-form Fritz.

The two-time Wimbledon champion to prevail in four sets.

Tip: Nadal to win in four sets: 11/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
