As Novak Djokovic seals his spot in the semifinal to create a match up against British number 1 Cameron Norrie, we look at the current favourites and whether there is a surprise result awaiting in the corner of our eyes.
12th July 2017, Novak Djokovic withdraws from the Wimbledon quarterfinal against Tomas Berdych due to an elbow injury. Fast forward five years, Djokovic has already won three Championships in a row at the All England Lawn Club in London and is two wins away from a fourth consecutive crown.
The Serbian star who is known as one of the greatest ever to play the sport is on a 26 match winning streak in Wimbledon and hasn’t lost since the time he retired in that quarterfinal against Berdych.
The former world number 1 has overcome an extremely difficult quarterfinal match against Jannik Sinner. The Italian NextGen was 7-5, 6-2 up and seemed to be cruising in to the semifinal.
However after taking a toilet break at the end of the second set, Djokovic got an early break in the third set and never looked back. Sinner started to doubt himself while Djokovic with all his experience became more surer of himself.
The 20 time Grand Slam winner is still the favourite to win it all here. He has 22-5 record this year and looks at his very best on grass. If he wins here again, he will be lifting the Wimbledon title for a 7th time in his remarkable career.

The 22 time Grand Slam champion is having an incredible season where he has already won the Australian Open and French Open. He is 35-4 on all surfaces and is on track to potentially create another historical match up against Djokovic in the final.
The Spaniard has only dropped two sets en route to the quarterfinal. He has faced one seeded player in the first four matches, Botic Van De Zandschulp and got past him in straight sets.

Taylor Fritz is on a 8 match winning streak on grass. He won the ATP Eastbourne title for a second time in his career, two weeks ago. He is yet to drop a single set all tournament and has spent the least time on court among all the players in the draw.
The American has been on scintillating form and in terms of pure performance, he has actually been the best player of the tournament so far. However, ahead of him lies the challenge of facing Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinal.
It is important to note that Fritz had defeated Nadal in the Indian Wells Masters final earlier this year to lift his first Masters title of his career. That defeat was also Nadal’s first loss of the year.
Kyrgios hasn’t played the full season and is probably not the most equipped player in the second week of a Grand Slam. However due his heavy serving nature, he will always be in the game but if Fritz can pull off an upset against Nadal, Fritz should be favoured to potentially face Djokovic in the final.
