Andy Murray v Sam Querrey Head to Head
There have been nine previous meetings between these two players and Murray leads 7-2 on head to head. Interestingly they last played in 2017 at Wimbledon and it was Querrey who had come away a winner in that encounter.

That Murray went out in the second round at Wimbledon wasn’t so much to do with his form on grass as it was with the draw. Coming up against John Isner was never going to be easy and while the Brit fought hard he fell in four sets and two tie-breakers to the American.
Before that, however, Murray had shown he is back playing somewhat close to good tennis which included a semifinal appearance at the Surbiton Challenger and a title-deciding match against Matteo Berrettini at Stuttgart.
In that tournament, Murray had managed to get past Stefanos Tsitsipas and Nick Kyrgios, with the latter going on to make it to the Wimbledon final later. It was an indicator of the kind of tennis the Brit has been playing in recent times.
Murray now returns to Newport to play in the last grass court competition of the season and will hope to run deep into the tournament. For starters he has an opponent whom he should not have a lot of difficulties surmounting.

Querrey Hoping to Arrest Three-Match Losing Streak
Having not played a lot of tennis last year, Querrey was showing signs of his previous sparkle when he made it to the second round at Rosmalen Open after starting out as a qualifier.
Unfortunately for him, things haven’t quite gone his way since then.
Querrey was sent packing in the second round in that tournament and after getting past Diego Schwartzman in the first round at the Queen’s Club, was ousted in the second round there too by Filip Krajinovic.
A qualifying loss to Brandon Nakashima followed soon after at Eastbourne before Querrey was bundled out at Wimbledon first round in straight sets by Ricardas Berankis. This was despite Berankis starting out 10/3 underdog in that encounter.
Against Murray, things might not get any easier for Querrey and a fourth successive loss looks like a given.
