Timea Babos v Kateryna Baindl Head to Head

It’s 1-1 between the two players, they last met in the 2018 WTA Taipei City final where Babos won in straight sets to prevent Kozlova won lifting the title.

Babos, a Doubles Veteran

Timea Babos of Hungary seems to have fallen on hard times of late. As a former doubles world number one and singles #25, the 29-year-old now finds herself at an absolute far cry from her career-best rankings.

On the singles circuit, she is #299 with 17-17 in 2022. If she does not deliver soon, she will fall down further.

Babos has spent the entirety of the current season on the ITF circuit – with not much to show for it. She made her Grand Slam debut of the year only in Wimbledon where she fell in the final qualifying round to the #191 Fernanda Gomez.

This rut is quite surprising from Timea, to say the least. She has endured several such shocking defeats of late.

As a multi-Grand Slam doubles finalist and three-time WTA Finals doubles champion, Babos has a rich, enviable pedigree and some exceptional experience to turn it all around. Perhaps, playing at home can help?

Kozlova, Seeking Reprieve

Former World No. 62 and current #138 Kateryna Kozlova (now Kateryna Baindl) has had a season to forget as she looks to find some ranking points and get things going.

She has had an erratic year – after competing in the Australian Open, the veteran Ukrainian did not resume the tour until late April in the Madrid Open. She moved on to lose five matches consecutively in Grado, Paris, Karlsruhe, and Wiesbaden.

It was not until last month that Baindl saw some rhythm to her game. She was a quarterfinalist in the Gaiba Challenger and later, a runner-up in the ITF Montpellier.

Kateryna is now 8-11 and is starting her campaign in the Budapest Tennis Grand Prix as a qualifier. She beat Daniela Seguel and Rebeka Stolmar to reach the main draw.

Babos v Baindl Prediction and Tip

Both players are coming on the back of a similar run. Babos has the edge owing to her pedigree and home advantage but Baindl can smell blood and will look to do her best and trouble the Hungarian. All in all, this can go either way.

Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
