Schwartzman Moves Past Ymer

Elias Ymer was never expected to defeat Schwartzman but there was always that chance of rustiness being a factor that went against the Argentine.

In the end, Schwartzman came through his second round match in straight sets following an opening bye, defeating his Swedish opponent 7-5, 6-3 in the process.

Schwartzman was on court for nearly two hours for his victory, and while he dropped his own serve on a couple of occasions, he broke his opponent four times to carve out a spot in the last eight.

He ran off to an early 3-0 lead and while the Argentine was broken back twice for Ymer to serve for the set at 5-4, Schwartzman found his way back into the encounter.

First, the Argentine came back to win three games in a row and then broke Ymer in the sixth game of the second set to seal the deal.

Carreno-Busta will be a lot harder to come through against though.

Carreno Busta Scrapes Past Ramos-Vinolas

It took Carreno Busta two hours and 45 minutes alright, but in the end he found a way to get past fellow Spaniard Albert Ramos Vinolas and seal his place in the last eight.

Carreno Busta needed to come back from a set down, twice squandered being a break up and then was a break down in the final set before registering a 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5 win over his opponent.

With Ramos-Vinolas serving to go 4-2 up in the final set, the see-saw of an encounter looked to have slipped away from his opponent’s grasp. He broke back the very next game though and then again when Ramos-Vinolas served at 5-6 in the third to seal the deal.

Carreno Busta had earlier rolled past Stan Wawrinka in the first round of the competition.

Schwartzman v Carreno Busta Prediction and Tip
