Andy Murray defeated Alexander Bublik in Stuttgart on the grass a few weeks ago in a clash where Bublik raged on the court. This match featured some fire as well with both players getting code violations from the umpire.
Bublik proved better simply because he was able to produce better tennis when it mattered. In the first set, he broke Murray at 5-5 to win the first 7-5. He didn’t allow a single break point. In the 2nd he squandered an early break but fought his way to a 6-4 finish.
He won the decisive break with some incredible backhands down the line. Simply Murray was not good enough. Bublik loves playing in Newport, he comes here every way so him playing well here is not a shock. He’ll have a chance to reach the final against a player who is not as good as him.
If he keeps playing as he did so far with superb serving he’ll be in good shape. He’s hoping to win this even after losing to John Isner last year in the final.

Kubler Keeps on Winning
Jason Kubler is in the semifinal of the tennis event in Newport after beating compatriot James Duckworth in two sets. It was not a perfect match for Kubler as he was broken a couple of times in this one but generally, he was able to play a stable style of tennis that over time yielded the win.
Kubler is quite solid, especially on grass. He played excellent tennis at Wimbledon and now he’s going to break into the top 100. A chance to reach the final is on the cards as well and it’s a fair chance. He has the game to beat Bublik because he’s just so solid.
He battles and never gives up which is the sort of thing that can annoy Bublik. If he can raise his level even a bit more than that he has a very strong chance. Kubler needs to avoid giving Bublik many break points.
He won’t think too much and attack and occasionally he’ll hit some spectacular shot. If he can keep him away from break points and grind him down, he’ll end up winning.
Bublik v Kubler Prediction and Tip
Alexander Bublik is the more talented player and generally better yet Kubler cares more. It’s a strange way to formulate it but it is like that. Should Bublik face issues he can simply do his thing and start messing around. Kubler won’t, even if he’s down 1-6.
I think Bublik should have the upper hand here but I see a way for Kubler to beat his opponent. Will he come up with the needed level to do so. I would not bet on it so I’ll take Bublik to reach another final in Newport.
