Diego Schwartzman v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head
There has been one previous encounter between these two and that came earlier this season when Schwartzman defeated Ruusuvuori in three tough sets at the Indian Wells Open.

There wasn’t much to choose from between Schwartzman and his Bastad Open quarterfinal opponent Pablo Carreno Busta last week and even the bookmakers had them both pegged at 10/11 to win that contest.
Which is why Schwartzman stumbling to a 6-1, 6-0 loss to his Spanish opponent would have come as a shock to most.
It was described by the official ATP website as “one of Carreno Busta’s best performances” this year, but that doesn’t mean it would be any consolation to the Argentine world number 14. Not on clay given how close the surface is to his heart.
Earlier in his last clay court competition, Schwartzman had reached the fourth round at French Open where he finally met his match against Novak Djokovic. He has also appeared in a couple of finals on clay court competitions this season which makes that crash at Bastad even more surprising.

Ruusuvuori is ranked 43rd at the moment, his career-best ranking on the ATP circuit.
In main draw matches at clay court competitions tbough, Ruusuvuori hasn’t gotten really going and that includes an opening round loss at the hands of the struggling Dominic Thiem in Bastad.
It was a fighting encounter in which Thiem had to come back from a set down to win a third set tie-breaker. Earlier this season, the Finn had scraped through to a five-set opening round win at the French Open having won successive matches in Barcelona and Munich as his best clay court results this season.
Playing in his first ever Hamburg Open, Ruusuvuori will have a tough battle on his hands despite his opponent’s obvious discomfiture in the last match that he had played.

Schwartzman, for all the issues against Carreno Busta, should not have a lot of trouble against Ruusuvuori. Expecting the Argentine to come through in straight sets.
