Ana Bogdan v Sara Sorribes Tormo Head to Head
Sara Sorribes Tormo leads Ana Bogdan 3-1 in their series, winning both of their previous two matches contsted on clay. However, they haven’t clashed on tour since 2020.

Just when it appeared everything was clicking for Ana Bogdan in Budapest, her campaign came to a sudden end in the second round when she lost to the talented Xiyu Wang for the second time this season (having also lost to the same opponent in Valencia).
Bogdan had her chances and was left to rue her missed opportunities especially in the wake of Wang’s seven double faults and eventually lost in two tiebreak sets.
As she inches closer to re-enter the top 100, Bogdan will make her debut appearance in Palermo. Overall, she is 8-5 across all levels on clay this year. But her best result of the year came on an indoor hard court right at the start of the season when won the Andrezieux-Boutheon ITF title.
She will be looking to turn around her one-sided losing record agaisnt Monday’s opponent in Sorribes Tormo.

Sorribes Tormo Loses to Garcia in Lausanne
Sara Sorribes Tormo remains without a singles title in the first half of the year, having won her maiden one just last season. The Spaniard, however, has reached four quartefinals in 2022, most memorable of those coming in her tournament in Madrid. In doubles, she won the Istanbul title alongside Marie Bouzkova a couple of months ago.
The 25-year-old reached the last eight in Lausanne this past week, but lost to an in-form Caroline Garcia. Overall, she has compiled an 18-12 record for the season and generating seven wins on clay. Remarkbly, she has not lost a first-round match at any event so far in 2022.
Her record in Palermo makes for very grim reading though. She has lost in the first round on two occasions, and failed to scale the qualifying rounds in her debut appearance in 2013. Can she end her hoodoo on Monday when she takes on Ana Bogdan?

Sorribes Tormo has never lost a first-round match in 2022 thus far and should probably be good value to make it past a very challenging opponent in Bogdan.
