Panna Udvardy started the season in horrid fashion, losing her first 7 matches of the year. Since then she has recovered somewhat of her form, currently 13-24 on all surfaces.
The Hungarian is a clay court specialist and has managed to salvage a 9-15 record on clay this year. Two weeks ago, she reached the quarterfinal of WTA Bastad which has been one of her highlights of this year.
She also managed to reach the quarterfinal of Karlsruhe, a WTA 125K event prior to Roland Garros.
Despite her poor records this year, it is important to note the tremendous year Udvardy had in 2021. She amassed 74 wins all year with most of them at the ITF level however she did reach the final in WTA Montevideo.
It is probably the wear and tear of last season that is holding her back, however it is evident how talented the 23 year old is.

Stefanini Gets Wildcard In Palermo
Italy is producing a high class of tennis layers and Lucrezia Stefanini is one of the new stars who is rapidly rising through the WTA rankings.
Stefanini has received a wildcard into the main draw. The 24 year old also took part in last year’s event where she faced a first round exit to Astra Sharma in three sets.
The Italian is 14-19 all year and recently took part in the Rome 2 ITF event where she reached the quarterfinal. Her record at the ITF level is very good and won the Sharm El Sheikh ITF event earlier this year.
Stefanini is a talented player who is projected to break into the top 100 by next year. She will be cheered on by the home support and in her mind she will believe she has a good draw here.
Udvardy v Stefanini Prediction and Tip
Both players are trying to establish themselves in the top WTA rankings and have found lot of success at the ITF level. However they are not in the best of form but Udvardy seems to be getting better results of late and should be favoured as the winner here.
