Anett Kontaveit v Bernarda Pera Head to Head

It’s 1-0 to Kontaveit; she beat Pera as recently as the Wimbledon Championships last month in round one with 7-5, 6-1.

Kontaveit in yet Another Final

It has been quite a season for the 26-year-old Estonian Anett Kontaveit. She became the new World No. 2 following two singles finals (St. Petersburg and Doha), and later got diagnosed with Covid-19 – possibly impacting her form and keeping her out of service for a short while.

In addition, she split with long-term coach Dmitry Tursunov citing touring difficulties due to the Russian’s visa troubles.

But now, Anett is back where she belongs. She is in her 16th career final – her 10th in the last 18 months. This 250 event in Hamburg has served as a good practice run for her to regain her rhythm – just in time for the US Open swing.

Kontaveit has not dropped a set en route to the final as she dismissed Irina Bara, Rebecca Peterson, Andrea Petkovic, and Anastasia Potapova. She has also improved her tally to 21-9.

Pera, on a Roll

If there is a worthy rival to give Kontaveit a run for her money, it’s Bernarda Pera. The 27-year-old American is now on a 10-match winning streak and is set to feature in her second WTA career final in as many weeks.

Pera has been a pro since 2014, but it wasn’t until last week that she finally started to make a name for herself.

She won the title in Budapest as a qualifier – winning seven matches without dropping a set. She dismissed the likes of Anna Bondar and Aleksandra Krunic in the final few rounds to lift her first trophy. Until then, her best result of the season was the runner-up feat in the Karlsruhe Challenger and a round-two stint in the Australian Open.

Bernarda has done well to carry the same tempo forward in Hamburg by beating Elena-Gabriela Ruse, Joanne Zuger, Katerina Siniakova, and Maryna Zanevska. With these, she is now 22-13.

Kontaveit v Pera Prediction and Tip

While Pera may lack high-profile wins like Kontaveit, she is certainly well-experienced and confident enough to punch above her weight.

This should be a good match where Anett has the odds in her favour but an upset can happen.

Tip: Kontaveit to Win, Over 20.5 Games: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
