Dominic Thiem v Richard Gasquet Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between the two players and Gasquet leads 2-1. Thiem did win the last time they faced off in a match that came in Beijing in 2019 where he dropped just five games in the encounter.

Wins had become difficult to come by for the 2019 Kitzbuhel champion but over the last two tournaments, Thiem has begun to show he does belong to the highest level again. Yes, things had come to those levels for the former Grand Slam winner.
Thiem would be rather pleased with his showing at Gstaad last week despite how his campaign ended.
The Austrian overcame Hugo Gaston in three sets in the first round there before making mincemeat of both Federico Delbonis and Juan Pablo Varillas in the next two matches to reach the semifinals.
He fell to a 6-1, 6-4 loss to Matteo Berrettini at that stage but the good news for Thiem is he is improving and at home, can be expected to be a tougher player to beat.

Gasquet Coming off Gstaad Second Round Showing
It was an easy first round win for Gasquet over Roberto Carballes Baena at the Gstaad Open where he managed to pull off a straight-setter but that was followed by Berrettini pulling one over the Frenchman.
Berrettini, who would later go on to defeat Thiem as well, won 6-4, 6-4 against Gasquet on his way to the final.
Gasquet shouldn’t mind that too much given his opponent’s fine pedigree, and also because of the kind of sparkle he has shown in recent times.
He had reached the third round at Wimbledon, after being a semifinalist at the Geneva Open earlier in May on clay. Quarterfinal appearances at Estoril and Marrakesh would have also boosted his confidence.
And now while Thiem is a different kettle of fish, especially when showing signs of his old self, Gasquet will have an idea how to tackle him.
