Last year, Tereza Martincova made it to her maiden WTA final in Prague, only to finish second best after losing to Barbora Krejcikova in the title clash.
It was Martincova’s first main draw appearance in Prague, after failing to qualify on five previous occasions. Overall, Martincova had a pretty good 41-27 season (including all levels) last year. but this year, the Czech is yet to reach the same level.
So far the World No. 71 is 11-16 from all levels. Her best this season was a run to the semifinals in Nottingham. But she was forced to retire from her final four clash against Beatriz Haddad Maia.
The loss was followed by three more defeats as Martincova went on to make first round exits in Birmingham, Eastbourne and Wimbledon.
She will be hoping to snap the four-match skid in the opening round in Prague. She is 5-6 on hard courts this year and that includes a quarterfinal appearance in St. Petersburg. Can she improve that record on Monday?

Pacquet Is 1-7 on the Tour in 2022
Chloe Pacquet recently finished runner-up at an ITF title in Italy but faltered in the first round of the Palermo Open this week.
The six time ITF winner won four titles from five finals lat year, two of which came on hard courts.
While she has done well at the ITF level, Pacquet has won just one of her eight matches at the Tour level this year and that win came in the first round in Guadalajara over Rebeka Masarova.
Over her career, the 28-year-old Frenchwoman has played far more matches on clay than on hard, but has produced better results on hard courts in recent times.
She is 5-6 on the surface from all competitions this year and although she comes up against the last year’s finalist she will believe that she can topple the higher-ranked player, who has not won in a while.

Although, she is on a four match losing streak, Martincova will be the favourite to win and advance from the first round contest.
