Kyrgios Returns After Wimbledon Success

Nick Kyrgios returns to the tour after a successful run at the All-England Lawn Tennis Club grass courts in Wimbledon.

The winner here in Atlanta in 2016, Kyrgios will be confident after what has been a good season for him.

2022 has seen a men’s doubles title at the Aussie Open, a quarter-final at Indian Wells, semis at Stuttgart and Halle and runner-up in Wimbledon. Being a player who does not always play a full schedule, it has been a good run for Kyrgios thus far this year.

The Aussie has paired up with this friend and compatriot with whom he won the first major of the year, Thanassi Kokkinakis here in the doubles and is seeded 7th in the singles, looking for a good start to the North American hard court swing.

Kyrgios prevailed over now six -time winner John Isner in two tiebreaks in 2016 to win the title and will be hoping for a similar run this time around.

Gojowczyk Has Good Qualifying Run

Gojowczyk was once ranked as high as number 36 in the world, but he has fallen in the rankings since then and it has been nearly five years since his only main draw ATP tournament win, and four since his last final.

There has not been much for him to cheer this season, where apart from a quarter-final showing early in the season at the Mexican Open in Acupulco, there has been nothing of note for the German.

Gojowczyk is much happier on hard courts, and that is shown by his Grand Slam record, where he reached the fourth round of the US Open last year.

Coming through the qualifiers here, the man from Germany looked in decent touch especially defeating Steve Johnson who is always a difficult opponent on the US hard courts.

On his preferred surface, Gojowczyk will be hoping this is the start of a revival of form for him, but the Aussie Nick Kyrgios is no easy opening round opponent.

Kyrgios v Gojowczyk Prediction and Tip

Kyrgios returns to the tour after a good run on grass and potentially a good rest since.  It is difficult to predict which version of the Aussie shows up, but he is expected to be high on form and confidence.

Expect a straight sets win for the Aussie.

Tip: Kyrgios to win in straight sets: 1/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
