Brandon Nakashima v Jordan Thompson Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two and Nakashima leads 2-1.
One of those matches came at this very tournament last year, where Nakashima scraped through to a victory to reach the semifinal.

Having reached the third round at French Open, Nakashima featured in three top-level grass court competitions other than the Challenger tournament in Surbiton.
At Surbiton, he had managed to make it to the quarterfinals and followed it up with another last eight appearance at Rosmalen, where he had defeated fellow Americans Tommy Paul and Sam Querrey.
As a qualifier at Eastbourne, he lost to Cameron Norrie in Eastbourne before he kick-started what would turn out to be his career-best showing at a Grand Slam.
It came at Wimbledon earlier this year where he reached the round of 16, which included a victory over Denis Shapovalov.
Can he now return to hard court tennis, which has been bit of a bugbear for him this season, with a bang?

Thompson Hoping to Turn Things Around
It has been a forgettable year for Thompson and while he did make it to back to back finals on the Challenger circuit, his performances at the highest level have left a lot to desire.
Of the 22 top-level matches that Thompson has played this year, he has lost 14 of them and with only eight wins under his belt, it comes as no surprise the Aussie is a heavy second favourite coming into this one.
So much so that his victory over Nakashima earlier this year in Dallas almost looks like from an era gone by. A second round exit at Wimbledon was followed by a first round ouster in Newport on grass and he will now hope his return to hard court tennis is a lot better.
First up though, he has a tough opening encounter.
