Magda Linette v Viktoriya Tomova Head to Head
This is their first meeting in over 10 years. They last met in an ITF event in Ankara in 2012 where Linette won their qualifying bout in straight sets.

It has been quite an interesting few weeks for the 27-year-old Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova.
She is 27-21 as of Tuesday and ranked #110 – just nine places short of her career-best ranking that she achieved only in June. That surge was driven by Tomova’s quarterfinal stint in the Valencia Challenger and WTA Eastbourne (as a qualifier) and a semifinal feat in the Nordea Open.
Amidst this, she also posted her best Grand Slam results by reaching round two in Wimbledon.
In these tournaments, Viktoriya defeated the likes of Sara Errani, Daria Saville, Kirsten Flipkens, Shelby Rogers, and Varvara Gracheva. Before this, her other highlights entailed a runner-up feat in Oeiras and a second-round appearance in Monterrey.
All in all, she has fared rather decently on all turfs.
Here in Prague, she dismissed Daria Snigur 6-4, 6-2 to reach round two.

Linette Upsets Mertens
Magda Linette could not have asked for a better start to her campaign in Prague as she defeated the number three seed Elise Mertens 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.
With her out of the way, the top bracket is effectively up for grabs for everyone – the only real threat they need to overcome is the World No. 2 Anett Kontaveit.
But that’s a problem for another day; with this result, Linette is now 20-18 as she looks to put behind a rather disappointing season. Except for Charleston Open, the current World No. 68 has not won more than two matches in any tournament this season.
That said, Magda has four singles finals on hard courts and a fair bit of top-tier experience – that alone should help her solve the Tomova challenge for the time being.
Linette v Tomova Prediction and Tip
Magda Linette is the odds-on favourite here and by all means, she can very well school Tomova with a straight-set win. However, the Bulgarian can surprise and has proven to be a rather difficult opponent.
We may be looking at a fascinating affair here.
