Ivashka Wins Maiden Outdoor Hardcourt Match for 2022
While Opelka’s recent form has been a problem, Ivashka had entered this tournament on the back of having featured in just one outdoor hardcourt competition for 2022.
That had come in February earlier this year and had seen Ivashka crash to a first round loss.
Which is why a 6-0, 3-6, 6-3 win over Quentin Halys in the first round here would be a bit of a relief for the Belarusian whose successes have usually come on this surface.
Having said that, Ivashka did reach the quarterfinal of the Marseille Open, an indoor hardcourt competition, and will be no pushover coming into this encounter.
