Magda Linette v Wang Qiang Head to Head
There have been five previous meetings between these two players and Linette holds a narrow 3-2 edge over her opponent. Incidentally all five matches have come on hard court surfaces including one indoors in Taipei in 2014.
The last two times they faced off was in 2018 and an in-form Wang won both times.

Linette Wins Successive Matches Again
Having made it to the third round at Eastbourne last month, Linette won another set of successive rounds when she got past Viktoriya Tomova in the second round here in Prague.
With a confidence-boosting, three-set victory over Elise Mertens in the opening round under her belt, Linette was at her best as she pumelled Tomova in straight sets in the round of 16.
Linette needed an hour and 16 minutes to get past Tomova, winning 6-3, 6-3 to set up this meeting with Wang Qiang.
Such was Linette’s dominance in the encounter, she faced no break-points while breaking her opponent three times from the six chances she had. Can she now make it three wins in a row, which she last did in Charleston in April earlier this year?

Qiang Emulates 2019 Showing
Having made it to the quarterfinal here in Prague in 2019, Qiang is back with another solid showing at this tournament as she emulated that performance with a straight-set second round win.
Qiang routed Dalila Jakupovic 6-3, 6-1 in a match lasting just over an hour, as she overcame two breaks of serves in the first set to win 10 of the last 11 games.
The former world number 12, who is looking to climb back the ladder and try and make it back to the top 100 for starters in the lead-up to the US Open, had earlier overcome Rebecca Peterson in the first round. This was after two, straightforward qualifier victories for the Chinese player.

While Qiang has shown what she is capable of and a bit of spark from when she was a world number 12, we think Linette is a heavy favourite here. Expecting a Linette win.
