Paul Too Strong for Kwon
After having demolished Jack Sock in the first round, Paul continued his strong run as he got past Korea’s Soon-woo Kwon in the second round with utmost ease again.
Paul won 6-3, 6-3 in a match lasting an hour and 21 minutes, thereby clinching back to back matches in a tournament for the fourth successive time. Having made it to the fourth round at Wimbledon has clearly given Paul that confidence and it was on display against the 76th-ranked Kwon as well.
After exchanging early breaks of serves in the first set, Paul took a 5-2 lead with a second break of serve in the set before wrapping things up.
In the second, Paul broke Kwon in the very first game and then again in the ninth game to finish off the encounter and with it, marched into the last eight stage.
Can he now make it to his second semifinal of the season following his showing at Delray Beach early this year?

Ivashka Joyous against Johnson
After getting stretched to three sets by Quentin Halys in the first round, Ivashka needed another three to overcome Steve Johnson in the second and seal his berth next to Paul.
The world number 53, in his first main draw appearance at Atlanta, overcame the loss of the first set to claim the quarterfinal place. Ivashka won 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 in nearly two hours to come through with his win.
Johnson, who had come through as a lucky loser following Reilly Opelka’s withdrawal, slammed eight aces and won 75% of his first serve points but still fell to Ivashka in this one.
Ivashka broke his opponent twice in the second set to level up the match and then upped his game as Johnson served at 4-5 to stay in the match in the third set.
Can Ivashka now push the in-form Paul?
