Kaia Kanepi v Daria Saville Head to Head
These two have never faced off at the highest level. They did play an ITF level encounter way back in 2011 which Kanepi had won in straight sets.

She was 4/6 to get past Anna Kalinskaya and in the end, Kanepi managed to do just that but it wasn’t the easiest of contests for the Estonian who made it through to her first semifinal in a WTA250 event for the season.
Kanepi overcame Kalinskaya 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-3 in a match lasting over two and a half hours, with both players displaying a reasonable level of tennis throughout the encounter.
An exchange of breaks early in the first set paved the way through to a tie-breaker which Kalinskaya won and when she went 3-0 in the second set, it looked like game over for Kanepi.
Instead, the Estonian fought back to jump right back into the fray with a break of serve in the fifth game and then again in the ninth to level the match. A couple of breaks in the final set was then enough for Kanepi to wrap things up.
Can she now display a similar level of fight against a player who has re-found her mojo in recent times?

Saville Mauls Marino to Make Semis
At her best, Saville was ranked 20th in the world and the now-88th-ranked Aussie is showing signs of getting back to those levels. And that has been on show in her quarterfinal against Rebecca Marino as Saville made it to her first WTA semifinal since the 2018 Acapulco Open.
Saville was on court for an hour and 22 minutes to race past Marino 6-1, 7-5 and seal that place against Kanepi for a rare entry into the final of a WTA event.
Marino did not know what hit her as Saville ran away to a 4-0 lead in the opening set, and while she fought back from 2-4 down in the second set, the Canadian was no match for her opponent.
Saville saved four break-points in the 11th game of the second set before breaking her opponent in the next to complete the win.
Can she now pull a rabbit out of a hat against Kanepi?

Kanepi might have shown some form in reaching the last four stage but we believe Saville holds the aces here and should cruise through. A straight-set win looks likely.
