She is 20-11, ranked World No. 36, and has already raked over $800,000 in prize money. Her highlights include a quarterfinal result in the Australian Open (her first-such feat) and round-three showings in the French Open, Charleston Open, Miami Open, and Indian Wells Open.
In fact, Kanepi has played with consistency across all turfs. The grass swing may not have been that impressive as she lost in the opening matches, but the fact that she featured in the big events says a lot.
Over the year, the Estonian has beaten the likes of Garbine Muguruza, Beatriz Haddad Maia, Donna Vekic, Belinda Bencic, and Aryna Sabalenka.

Minnen Out of Form
Greet Minnen, aged 24, has had a shoddy season with a tally of 15-14. The Belgian has bagged just two wins in her last five tournaments – losing to a mixed bag of players like Qinwen Zheng, Sabine Lisicki, Kateryna Baindl, and Anna Blinkova.
Most of her season on the WTA Tour has gone by like this – losing in the opening matches. A good share of those 15 wins came on the ITF circuit – notably in Altenkirchen and Nur-Sultan, where she reached the final.
Minnen is yet to reach a WTA singles final. Compared to Kanepi, her pedigree isn’t particularly strong as she lacks top-tier experience and a decent resume against the top 50.

Kaia is a force to be reckoned with and will fancy her chances with Minnen. After all, she ticks all the boxes. The only concern here may be her fitness, but given Greet’s shaky composure of late, she should overcome that challenge.
