Alexei Popyrin v Tung-lin Wu Head to Head
They played once before and Popyrin won that match.

Popyrin Winless Since June
The last time Alexei Popyrin left a court as a winner was at the Ilkey Challenger on June 17th. Since then Popyrin played a couple of matches and he lost all of them. Six consecutive losses for Popyrin is obviously bad from the Australian but it’s not that unusual.
He’s had a lot of potential for a long time but he never quite gets it right. Struggles and poor form have been a staple of his career so far and despite an ATP trophy to his name, Popyrin is really not living up to his potential. His game is centred around his powerful serve but he is not developing the other parts of his game.
Even the serve is not as consistent as you would like it to be. It’s a problem for him but perhaps he’ll find some form on the faster courts in North America. He has had moments here in past and perhaps it’s time to find that form again.
An 18-24 record on the year is not good enough for such a talented player. 4-9 on hard looks even worse.

Wu Keeps Battling
Wu Tung-lin has had a pretty solid season overall and the player is slowly improving his standing on the rankings. He’ll never be some world-beater but he can carve out a decent career for himself if keep improving the way he did so far.
24-16 is the score this year with a fairly impressive 15-6 on hard courts. The concrete is where he feels best so this part of the season will be crucial for him. Most of these matches and wins came on the Challenger Tour so he’s lacking any proper ATP experience.
His form over the past few weeks has been okay. He played at the Winnipeg challenger losing in round two. He played the qualifiers in Washington and won two matches to move on to the main draw.
He can be a tricky player to play against and Popyrin is an excellent draw for him. If the Aussie flops once again, Wu will take the match.
Popyrin v Wu Prediction and Tip
So this match will largely fall on the racquet of Popyrin. If he can play a good and complete match, he should be able to win. Wu is a solid player but Popyrin has the bigger weapons. If the Aussie flops, Wu will be ready to take advantage of that and win.
I’ll back Wu to do it. I’ve been hugely disappointed by Popyrin and I can’t back him until he proves it again.
Tip: Wu to win: 7/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
