Aslan Karatsev v Mikael Ymer Head to Head
These two haven’t played each other at the highest level. They did face off in a competitive match on the Challenger circuit in 2018 which Ymer had won.

After a season full of misses, Karatsev’s form over the last three tournaments has shown signs of revival. The needle hasn’t moved a lot but enough to suggest things could be changing for the better.
Because going into the Bastad Open last month, Karatsev had won a mere four of his previous 19 matches played. Over the last three tournaments which includes his first round defeat at Kitzbuhel, Karatsev has won four of the seven matches he’s been a part of – a marked difference in form.
And the surface now changes to hard courts, which is Karatsev’s most preferred, with the Russian having also won a title at the beginning of the season on this.

Ymer Hurrah Against Murray
Not too many expected Ymer to put up a fight against the in-form Andy Murray but not only did the Swede do that, he also carved out a three-set win over his much-fancied opponent.
Ymer was on court for nearly three hours to carve out a 7-6 (8), 4-6, 6-1 win over Murray to make it to the second round.
In a match that saw Ymer getting broken five times, he retaliated with six breaks of his own to complete the victory. In fact the final set was such a roll for Ymer, his lucidity of tennis made one wonder if he had it in him to break into the top 50 very soon.
This win followed a three-match losing streak for Ymer and only a handful of singles wins this season.
Karatsev v Ymer Prediction and Tip
While Ymer played out of his skin to overcome Murray, the big question is that of consistency and we think it could get difficult. Still, a three-set match seems very likely.
