Kaia Kanepi v Anna Kalinskaya Head to Head
Kanepi and Kalinskaya will be facing off in a competitive match for the first time in their careers.

Kanepi Stretched by Zhu
After an easy first round win, Kanepi was stretched to three sets by Lin Zhu in the second round but came through in the end. She now looks for her third successive win in a competition for the first time since she reached the quarterfinal at Australian Open.
Kanepi overcame a first set deficit, winning 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 38 minutes against her 97th-ranked opponent.
Playing in her first tournament since her first round loss at Wimbledon, Kanepi had earlier routed Greet Minnen 6-3, 6-3 to set up the Zhu meeting.
She will hope to get back to her best as she takes on a player who has, more recently, shown sparks of brilliance that helped her break into the top 70 for the first time in her career.

Kalinskaya Stunner for Halep
Now Simona Halep did suffer an untimely injury which allowed Kalinskaya the opportunity to make it through to the next round but the Russian had by then troubled her opponent enough.
Kalinskaya, who had needed a medical timeout in her first round win against Madison Brengle, was 7-5, 2-0 up against Halep when the Romanian player retired from the encounter. The match was at the hour and eight minute mark at that stage.
It was Kalinskaya’s solid first serves that helped, with the Russian winning 18 of the 21 points on them but she would love to do a lot better on two counts – get more than just 50% of her first serves in and win more than the 38% of her second serve points she won in the end.
Interestingly, Kalinskaya broke Halep four times from the four chances she got and that is something Kanepi will need to be very aware of.
Kanepi v Kalinskaya Prediction and Tip
This could turn out to be a gripping contest that goes into the final set. Three sets in the match that could go either way.
