Sebastian Korda rallied from a set down to eliminate fifth seed Grigor Dimitrov in the Rond of 16 on Friday.
Following Thursday’s rains, Korda had to finish his match on Friday, which means he has just a few hours to recover from the third round match as he takes the court in the evening session for his quarterfinal.
Korda, who had beaten Ilya Ivashka 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) in the first round and Sebastian Baez 6-1, 6-4 in the second round, needed two hours and 17 minutes to beat the World no. 19 Dimitrov 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
Korda struck 31 winners, including 5 aces, saved 6 of 7 break points and converted 4 of 17 to improve to 20-14 in 2022. The 22-year-old American will be featuring in a third quarterfinal this season. He was knocked out in the last eight stage in Delray Beach, but he made it to the semifinal in Estoril.

Ymer Battles Past Ruusuvuori
Mikael Ymer is playing some great tennis in Washington this week. The Swede has won three-back-to-back three-setters and made his way into a third quarterfinal of the season.
The 23-year-old Swede, who stunned Andy Murray in the opening round match and 15th seed Aslan Karatsev in the second, continued his winning run in the third round, defeating Emil Ruusuvuori in a two hour and 55 minute contest.
The World no. 115 saved 7 of 13 break points and converted 8 of 17 to beat the Finn 6-3, 6-7 (3-7), 6-4 in a dramatic Round of 16 match, which saw as many as seven breaks of serve in the final set.
Ymer was a semifinalist in Montpellier earlier this season and a quarterfinalist in Adelaide 1. Can he make the semifinals on his Washington debut?
