Filip Krajinovic v Dan Evans Head to Head

Krajinovic has beaten Evans in their last two meetings – at the Cherbourg Challenger in 2016 and more recently in 2019 in Stockholm.

Krajinovic Set for Montreal Debut

Since turning pro over a decade ago, it is quite preposterous that Filip Krajinovic has only ever played the Canadian Open once in his career. That solitary appearance came in 2018 when he lost in the first round to Karen Khachanov.

Chronic injuries have slowed Krajinvoic’s progress and participation at key tournaments including the Canada Masters. But there is room for optimism now that he is back inside the world’s top 50 and is yet to withdraw or retire at any tournament this season.

While maintaining a decent spell of excellent health is welcome news, the same has been translated in results. Krajinovic made his first final on grass at Queens, shocking former champion Marin Cilic en route. He did fall short in his quest to land his maiden ATP crown but still left London with his reputation intact despite also losing to Nick Kyrgios at Wimbledon.

The Serbian World No. 47 was last in action in Hamburg where he lost in a tight two-setter to the Spanish teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz in the second round.

Evans Finds Form in North America

Dan Evans didn’t take too long to settle in the North American summer sun. The Briton reached the quarterfinals of Washington in his last tournament, beating compatriot Kyle Edmund and Taylor Fritz (albeit via retirement). But like most top players, he succumbed to an inspired Yoshihito Nishioka in the last eight.

Still, Evans will be delighted with his form as the US Open looms large. The 32-year-old recently returned to the winners’ circle on home soil. He clinched the Nottingham Challenger without dropping a set, although his grass-court campaign on the ATP Tour was a disaster.

But you can’t fault Evans for three very logical losses against the likes of Berrettini, Maxime Cressy, and Jason Kubler. Although the latter’s defeat at Wimbledon was slightly disappointing.

Krajinovic v Evans Prediction and Tip

Krajinovic is a smart baseliner who will keep up with the Briton’s variety and net-rushing tactics. But Evans was in decent form in D.C. and he should just pinch this.

Tip: Evans to win: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
