Cameron Norrie v Botic van de Zandschulp Head to Head

Norrie Moves Past Nakashima

Cameron Norrie opened his Montreal campaign with a very really solid win over Brandon Nakashima. The American is a tough out on hard courts with his game tailor-made for hard courts but Norrie was ready for the challenge. The Brit played him before and he used similar tactics got to get the win this time as well.

It’s been a good return for the British number one as he played in Los Cabos last week beating a couple of solid players en route to a final. Daniil Medvedev proved better there but Norrie accomplished the goal of gathering points as he makes a push for the ATP Finals.

A good run here would boost him in that regard and he looked really bouncy in the first round. Recovering both mentally and physically was always the biggest question and he seemed to have handled that rather well. Montreal is a bit slower among these North American hard courts so that suits him pretty well.

The serve looked sharp as well and that’s another key component of his game. If all of that works, Norrie will be very hard to beat.

Van de Zandschulp Serves his Way Past Kecmanovic

Botic van de Zandschulp did not have a couple of good weeks before coming here as the Dutch player struggled on clay when he moved there from grass. His struggles sort of continued in Washington where he put up a decent effort but nothing special.

It’s a part of the season that is crucial for him as he played in the quarterfinal of the US Open last year and there are many points to be defended. A good start was made against Kecmanovic who is a college player and who grew up on these courts.

The victory came behind the superb serving that saw him blast over 10 aces and win the vast majority of points behind it. He was a bit in trouble in the 2nd set being down 2-5 but he came back to make it 5-5 which initiated a late collapse by the Serbian.

For Botic it’s paramount that he serves well. Nothing in his game is going to work unless that part is good and it looked solid in round one. If he keeps it up, he can make things interesting.

Norrie v van de Zandschulp Prediction and Tip

They never played before and they play a bit differently. Norrie is comfortable defending while Botic likes to attack. It should be an interesting clash on paper however Norrie has a clear advantage here. He’s 17-8 on the year on hard courts while Botic is only 9-7.

He saw a similar player in Nakashima in round one and he handled it quite well.

Tip: Norrie to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
