Diego Schwartzman v Alberto Ramos Head to Head

Diego Schwartzman traditionally plays pretty solid tennis overall in North and he’s had a fairly strong score over the years. His 2022 campaign did not start off well as he faced Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in Montreal and lost the opening set.
It was quite a pale set but it was also his first match on the surface in a very long time. When he finally settled into a nice rhythm Diego started playing much better. The more pressure he put on Fokian, the more the Spaniard struggled to keep playing well.
Eventually, Schwartzman was able to turn the result in his favour as he minimized his errors which was something Fokina was not able to do. It improved his score to 28-17 on the year and 5-4 on hard courts. He’ll be looking to add one more win against Albert Ramos, a player whom he dominated in the past.
They never played on hard courts though and Ramos looked really strong in round one.

Ramos Upsets Goffin
Albert Ramos was not expected to upset David Goffin because in theory, conditions like these suit the Belgian far more. It wasn’t really like that as Ramos jumped out to an early lead hitting some superb angles that left Goffin unsure on how to proceed.
Goffin had a pretty bleak campaign in the Sunshine double earlier this year so his struggle on the surface happened earlier this year as well. Despite being down 1-5, Goffin did get back to force a tiebreak but lost. In the 2nd, Ramos cruised easily.
The Spaniard is playing a pretty solid campaign with some impressive wins. 23-21 is the score and it doesn’t look like anything special but every now and then he’ll have a strong run. Conditions to suit his game naturally but they can help him force players into very tough positions.
If the player fails to adjust he’ll have a tough time.
Schwartzman v Ramos Prediction and Tip
Schwartzman and Ramos played six times over the years with the Argentine winning five of them. All were played on clay though and the most recent one was won by Ramos.
It’s a tricky matchup for Schwartzman because the best of Ramos can certainly beat him. He looked strong in round one while Schwartzman took some time to get going. I predict a close affair, probably three sets but I do think Diego will adjust in time to win the match just as he did against Fokina.
