Taylor Fritz v Dan Evans Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between these two players at the highest level and both have won one match apiece.
On the clay courts of Rome last season, Fritz had taken out Evans in straight sets before they met again last week in Washington. Evans was up 4-1 in the final set when Fritz needed to retire from the match.

Fritz overcame a first set loss and 0-4 deficit in the third against Frances Tiafoe to complete a three-set win and move into the third round of the Canadian Open for the first time.
In fact, when Fritz had defeated Andy Murray in the first round, it was the first time ever he had won a match in his career in Canada, and with this win over Tiafoe he has extended that. The world number 13 won 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 to make it 17-5 in hard court competitions for the season.
Needing an hour and 54 minutes to extricate himself out of the hole he found himself in the first set, Fritz blasted 19 aces to complete his victory. Frittering away a 4-2 lead in the first set, Fritz came back strongly to break Tiafoe twice in the second set to level the match.
In the third, however, Fritz fell 0-4 behind before mounting one of the best comebacks of the tournament so far by winning the next six in a row to complete the win.

Evans Rules over Rublev
He was 11/5 odds to surprise Andrey Rublev in his second round match but Evans displayed superb touch in dismantling the Russian and making it through to the third round of the competition.
Evans won 6-4, 6-4 in an hour and 32 minutes to avenge his Dubai loss at the hands of Rublev earlier this year.
In a see-saw first half the set, Evans broke Rublev in the first game only to be broken back in the sixth. However, with the score reading 3-3 Evans got himself a second break of the set and completed the formalities by serving out to love.
A break in the third game of the second set was all that Evans needed and while he missed out on a match-point on Rublev’s serve in the ninth game, another serve to love ended his opponent’s resistance.
Things could be a lot different, however, against the in-form Fritz.

Fritz enters this match on the back of a lot of belief, one that the fans have begun to see a lot of from the American this season. Expect him to come through this one.
