Karen Khachanov v Sebastian Korda Head to Head

They played at the 2021 Wimbledon with Khachanov winning in five sets.

Khachanov’s Weak Montreal Campaign

Karen Khachanvo played a pretty solid year so far with a 26-19 record but he did not play that well in Montreal. A win over Francisco Cerundolo is not to be dismissed but the Russian failed to follow up that performance with a good one against Marin Cilic.

The Croatian won that match easily to move to round as Khachanov turned his attention to Cincinnati. The Russian is 12-9 on hard courts this year which is solid but far from his 17-9 of last year. He has a powerful serve and some solid groundstrokes making him a threat on hard courts.

His recent form has been shaky but not too far from his usual level. Generally, Khachanov usually plays one good match but fails to follow it up with another good one. Washington was like that as well with one win and then a loss. The draw wasn’t easy for him him here as he got Sebastian Korda but he won their most recent match.

It will be a match depending on who the most consistent is. Both are capable of superb tennis but also capable of missing a lot. Khachanvo will hope he’s the more consistent one this time around.

Korda Opts Out of Montreal

Sebastian Korda played okay in Washington but the American skipped over Montreal. He’s got a wild card entry into this event due to his ranking suffering his recent injury battle with shin splints. Korda recovered well from them but his play is far from his peak.

He will expect much from this stretch as his game is perfectly suited for hard courts. He’s only 10-7 this year and he went 12-8 last year so there is certainly room to improve. A lot will depend on how well he serves because it’s a major weapon during this part of the season, especially at the US Open.

Korda’s game is an aggressive one. He has very flat groundstrokes and likes to attack but is also prone to committing many injuries and it’s something he will need to be careful against Khachanov. Their most recent clash was won by the Russian but it was a long and competitive one.

The American will try to avoid such a scenario in Cincinnati and he’ll hope the crowd will have his back. He does play better with fan support.

Khachanov v Korda Prediction and Tip

This is an interesting matchup that is pretty hard to call in this spot.

Korda is overall the more talented one and will probably end up as the better player. Neither is in the best of shapes and it could really go either way. I do think both will win a set so the safest bet would be to back the over. I’d lean towards Korda as the winner but the over is far more likely.

Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
