Marin Cilic v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the Queen’s Club competition held earlier this year where Cilic won in straight sets to proceed to the semifinal.

Cilic was a heavy favourite coming into his opening round encounter here in Cincinnati against Jaume Munar and lived up to those expectations rather well.
The Croat stormed to a 6-3, 6-3 win in an hour and a half to enter round two of a competition he has won once before.
Slamming seven aces, Cilic saved all five of the break-points he faced in the encounter, while breaking Munar three times from the 11 chances he got. A crucial break in the eighth game of the first is all he needed to clinch it before taking a 2-0 lead in the second.
Cilic consolidated the lead by holding on to his serves before breaking Munar yet again in the ninth game as the Spaniard served to stay in the match. He won it off his sixth match-point.
This follows a third round appearance at Montreal last week and a fourth round show at the Australian Open in January as two of his better hard court performances this year.

Ruusuvuori Fizzes Past Wolf
While JJ Wolf put up a strong showing in the first set, Ruusuvuori came through in his first round encounter in straight sets to seal his round of 32 berth.
Ruusuvuori clinched a 7-6 (2), 6-2 win over Wolf in an hour and 31 minutes in a match that saw fortunes fluctuate in the opening set.
It was Ruusuvuori who took the early lead with a break in the fourth game but was soon broken back by Wolf. The American then 6-5 up and served for the set before Ruusuvuori drew level and pushed the set into a tie-breaker.
Once there, however, the Finnish number one wasted no time in sealing it and then clinching the second set with another couple of breaks of serves.

Cilic is 11/20 favourite to win and given Ruusuvuori’s performances in recent times this might seem rather short. Sure, Cilic would win this match more often than not but there’s a solid chance for Ruusuvuori to eke out the odd victory. Expect him to win a set at the very least.
