Garbine Muguruza v Elena Rybakina Head to Head
The tally stands at 1-1 between the two players; they last met in the 2021 Olympics, where Rybakina won 7-5, 6-1.

Rybakina Starts Strong
World No. 25 Elena Rybakina is off to a good start in the Western & Southern Open as she dispatched Mayar Sherif 6-3, 6-2, without breaking a sweat.
The Kazakh looks a lot more confident compared to her play in the Canadian Open last week, where she fell in round two to Cori Gauff. It was a fiercely-contested three-set slogfest that ended in a 4-6, 7-6(8), 6-7(3) defeat for Elena. She also had a similar affair in the first round with Marie Bouzkova.
Nonetheless, that should not dampen the joys of celebrating what has been a fantastic year for Rybakina.
She is now 30-14, armed with a runner-up feat from Adelaide International and a title run at the SW19 – where she beat players like Bianca Andreescu, Petra Martic, Ajla Tomljanovic, Simona Halep, and Ons Jabeur.
With a form like this, taking on Muguruza should not be that difficult – especially since the Spaniard is visibly struggling.

Muguruza, Starting with a Bye
Number eight seed Garbine Muguruza has been awarded a bye into round two.
Now ranked World No. 9, the 28-year-old hasn’t had the best of the season so far, as her tally now stands at 9-13. Her last several tournaments have been highly uneventful as she uncharacteristically lost in the early rounds.
Muguruza last played in the Canadian Open, where she lost to Belinda Bencic in round three. Such has been the case for most of her season, with her best run coming in the Qatar Open, where she was a quarterfinalist.
Garbine won the Cincinnati Open in 2017 and as a top 10 player, she is definitely a force to be reckoned with. This season, however, it hasn’t quite been the case, and given her precarious bracket, her chances of going all the way through are slim.
Rybakina v Muguruza Prediction and Tip
Backing Rybakina to win this one is not the worst move to make; she is in form, has had a much better year, and has certainly got the momentum.
Tip: Rybakina to win, Over 20.5: 11/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
