Jabeur Looking to Perform on Hard Courts
It has been quite a season for Ons Jabeur, now ranked World No. 5, having arrived in Cincinnati with an impressive tally of 37-12 and five singles finals.
Three came on clay courts in Charleston, Madrid, and Rome, while the other two were on grass turfs in Berlin and Wimbledon. In her journey, Jabeur has beaten a handful of big names like Coco Gauff, Belinda Bencic, Maria Sakkari, Daria Kasatkina, Simona Halep, and Amanda Anisimova.
Besides this, Ons consistently reached the penultimate rounds in Sydney, Dubai, and Doha.
Armed with this form and momentum, it is hard to undermine her in the US Open swing, but if last week is any indication, it may not be an entirely smooth ride.
Playing in the Canadian Open, Jabeur retired from her opening match with Qinwen Zheng after trailing 1-6, 1-2. Before that, she lost in the quarterfinal in San Jose to Veronika Kudermetova.

McNally Shines at Home
20-year-old Caty McNally, born in Cincinnati, is looking to turn heads on her home turf.
In the first round, she played Aliaksandra Sasnovich and upset her in a fierce clash with 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(2). This also marks her best singles result in a WTA 1000 event.
At the moment, McNally is ranked World No. 179 with a handful of deep runs on the singles tour. Her highlights include a quarterfinal result in the Libema Open and a second-round stint in the Birmingham Classic – both as a qualifier.
On the doubles side of things, Catherine is ranked #20; she won the St. Petersburg Trophy and reached the final in Washington Open.
Jabeur v McNally Prediction and Tip
Home advantage will play a big part for McNally, and backing her may lead to good returns. Of course, a lot will depend on how Jabeur is feeling, and if she is at her best, then there is no stopping her.
For now, Jabeur seems to be the safe choice with the possibility of this being a well-contested match.
