Andrey Rublev v Fabio Fognini Head to Head
It’s 5-5 from their 10 meetings but Rublev has dominated the recent meetings. He was 3-0 against Fognini last year and is 1-0 this year, having won in Belgrade.

Last year’s finalist Andrey Rublev will be looking to overcome his Canadian Open disappointment and begin well in Cincinnati. Last week, the World no. 8 exited Montreal without winning a match, after he was beaten by Dan Evans in straight sets in the second round.
Rublev has otherwise show brilliant form throughout the season. He has won three titles from three finals and brings a 35-13 record into the tournament.
The 24-year-old is 7-4 in Cincinnati. He had beaten Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals last year, but went down to Alexander Zverev in the title clash.
A solid hard court player, the Russian is 21-6 on the surface this year, which includes two titles in Marseille and Dubai. His third title of the season came on clay in Belgrade.
The 11-time Tour-level champion will be hoping to make a brisk start against a familiar opponent whom he has dominated in recent times.

Fognini Knocks Out Ramos-Vinolas
He got into the main draw as a lucky loser, and Fabio Fognini made the most of the opportunity as he knocked out Spain’s Albert Ramos-Vinolas in straight sets on Tuesday.
The Italian saved 4 of 4 break points in the first set and three in the final game of the match to beat the Spaniard 6-2, 6-3 in an hour and 19 minutes and improve his record in Cincinnati to 7-8. Fognini’s best so far in the tournament was a quarterfinal finish in 2014.
Ranked No. 61, the 33-year-old struck 27 winners and 7 aces and made 25 unforced errors during the first round contest. He had seven opportunities to break the World No. 40 and he capitalised on four of those chances.
Fognini had rallied from a set down to beat Kwon Soon-woo in the first qualifying round, but he lost his second qualifying round to Marcos Giron in straight sets. But he still found a place in the main draw and is looking to make it count. He is 15-16 in the main draws this year, with semifinals finishes in Rio and Belgrade being his best.
