Jannik Sinner v Miomir Kecmanovic Head to Head
Their only previous meeting at the highest level came in one of the Melbourne tournaments of 2021 where Sinner managed a straight-set win over Kecmanovic.
Earlier in 2019, they had also contested in the Next Gen Finals’ semifinals which Sinner won in four sets.

Sinner All But Falls to Kokkinakis
It became a case of the last man standing as Sinner needed two tie-breakers, three sets and three hours and 17 minutes to get past Thanasi Kokkinakis in his opening round encounter.
Sinner registered a 6-7 (9), 6-4, 7-6 (6) victory over his Aussie opponent to enter round two in a match that could have gone either way.
After a gruelling first set that saw both players save multiple break-points en route the tie-breaker, Sinner missed a set-point while Kokkinakis clinched the set off his fourth.
It was relatively easy going in the second set when Sinner broke Kokkinakis twice but things were back to the cageyness of the past in the third set. No breaks of serves came for either player and in the ensuing tie-breaker, it was Sinner’s quality that stood out.
Sinner would have preferred going into his second round encounter with an easier win under his belt given also how he had fallen early in Montreal last week.

Kecmanovic Shocks Carreno Busta
Champion one week, ousted in the first round the next. Alternately, knocked out in the opener one week, knocks out the previous week’s champion the next.
That was the story of the first round match between Kecmanovic and Pablo Carreno Busta. Carreno Busta had come into the tournament on the back of a Masters 1000 title win at the Canadian Open while Kecmanovic had crashed out in the first round.
In this competition here, Kecmanovic managed to overturn a first set loss to complete a fighting, three-set win over his Spanish opponent. The match lasted nearly three hours but an elated Kecmanovic will start things off against Sinner with a lot of confidence.
Kecmanovic had earlier made it all the way to the semifinals at Los Cabos two weeks ago. Can he test his 12th-ranked opponent?
Sinner v Kecmanovic Prediction and Tip
Sinner was pushed to the limits by Kokkinakis and has looked slightly off rhythm recently. That makes this a slightly more even battle than what those odds of 2/1 for a Kecmanovic win represent. Backing Kecmanovic to push his opponent here.
Tip: Kecmanovic to win a set – Yes: 4/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
