Aryna Sabalenka v Shelby Rogers Head to Head

Aryna Sabalenka, current World No. 7, had a comfortable start to her campaign in the Western & Southern Open as she beat Anna Kalinskaya 6-3, 4-1(retired).
Her form in the United States of late has not been that impressive as she lost in the third round itself in her last two tournaments in San Jose and Toronto – respectively, to Daria Kasatkina and Coco Gauff.
Nonetheless, as a top 10 player, Sabalenka is clearly equipped to turn it around. She is still on the prowl for her first singles title of the season; she came close to it twice in Stuttgart and Den Bosch but lost in the final. Her tally as of now stands at 22-16.
Aryna was a quarterfinalist in Cincinnati in 2020; her chances of doing so again are good but it will greatly depend on whether she can keep her rhythm going.

A Walkover for Rogers
Shelby Rogers, on paper, was handed a pretty tough draw starting with the likes of Sofia Kenin and Amanda Anisimova. However, the World No. 30 has made quick work here and also benefited greatly from her luck.
In the opener, she dispatched Kenin 6-2, 6-1, and later, enjoyed a walkover into round three as Anisimova withdrew from the match.
The 29-year-old Rogers is certainly among the dark horses in Cinci this season as she came on the back of a runner-up feat in San Jose – where she beat Bianca Andreescu, Maria Sakkari, Anisimova, and Veronika Kudermetova. That was also the third singles final of her career.
However, Shelby has not performed consistently well throughout the season with her record now at 18-16. She has endured a fair number of early defeats but perhaps, playing at home can help her make amends for those.
Sabalenka v Rogers Prediction and Tip
Sabalenka is the odds-on favourite but given her shaky footing, Rogers will fancy her chances of toppling the number six seed. Expect a cracking affair that can see a number of games in play.
