Aryna Sabalenka v Zhang Shuai Head to Head
Sabalenka leads 3-1. Her only defeat to Zhang came in 2016, since then she is 3-0 and won their latest meeting in Rome this year.

World No. 7 Aryna Sabalenka held off a strong comeback bid from Shelby Rogers in a Round of 16 match on Thursday to advance to a sixth quarterfinal of the season.
The Belarusian, who finished runner-up in Stuttgart and ‘s-Hertogenbosch, was also a semifinalist in Rome and will be hoping to reach the final four for the fourth time this year.
On Thursday, Sabalenka was off to a brisk start, building a 4-0 lead in the first set, but Rogers rebounded by winning the next four. Sabalenka checked Rogers’ surge by holding serve in the ninth game and then broke for a third time in the set to take a one-set lead.
The second set saw both players trade a break each before Rogers dominated the tiebreak to force the decider. In the final set, Sabalenka broke in the fifth game of the set and then saved two break points each in her next two service games, before beating the resilient Rogers 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4.
The win improved Sabalenka to 23-16 this season. She had beaten Anna Kalinskaya in the second round. The Belarusian led the Russian 6-3, 4-1 before the latter retired.

Zhang’s Stunning Run Continues
Zhang Shuai continued her solid run in the tournament, upsetting the second seed Anett Kontaveit in the third round on Thursday.
The Chinese player was outplayed by the Estonian in the first set, but she clawed her way back in the contest by getting the solitary break in the second set.
In the third, Zhang came back from a break down twice to stop Kontaveit from dictating terms. She raced away with the match, winning the last four games for a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory.
Zhang had ousted Naomi Osaka 6-4 , 7-5 in the opening round and then beaten Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-3, 6-4 in the second round.
With the three wins, the World no. 44 has improved her season record to 27-20 across level. She won her WTA title this year in Lyon and also reached the final in Birmingham.
Zhang will be playing in a fourth WTA 1000 quarterfinal on Friday with an aim of reaching the semifinals of a WTA 1000 event for the first time.

Sabalenka has dominated this rivalry and will be the favourite in this match as well. Expect her to advance to a first semifinal since June.
