Caroline Garcia v Petra Kvitova
This is not the final that many expected to see but it’s a worthy one. Petra Kvitova finally found form again after showing glimpses of it at Wimbledon. She handled the conditions really well all week long and battled past a couple of very good tennis players to win the match.
Just yesterday over Keys, Kvitova had to overcome so many issues to win the match and secure the final. She is looking really strong and really comfortable but she faces a player that is exhibiting the same thing, only at a greater level. Caroline Garcia has been in spectacular form ever since winning Bad Homburg.
She added another trophy in Warsaw after that and is playing with a lot of confidence. Garcia already won three matches as an underdog this week and all of them were in spectacular fashion. Kvitova will be favoured in this one due to her experience but I think Garcia has a pretty strong shot. She’s been too good recently and we’ve seen this before.
A few years ago, Garcia won back-to-back WTA 1000 events after catching fire suddenly and she seems to have rediscovered it again. Take the Frenchwoman.
Tip: Garcia to win: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Stefanos Tsitsipas v Borna Coric
Entering the event with a protected ranking Coric was able to play his best week of tennis in a couple of years to reach the final. This is surprising but not impossible as he was ranked inside the top 10 at one point in time and he can play like this at his peak.
For Tsitsipas this event is coming at a very needed time. He is having a really strong year overall but he suffered a couple of very disappointing losses as well. This will be his 5th final of the year and he won two of those and lost two. He’d like to add another trophy and he will certainly be favoured here but can he avoid losing to Coric as many favourites did this week?
It’s a good question and they played twice before with each winning one match. Tsitsipas is arguably the better talent but he’s had a habit of losing matches he should have won. There is a hope that the win over Medvedev will push him to a higher level and a trophy here would do wonders for his confidence.
I think he’ll get it done because he seems a bit more consistent that Coric despite the Croatian’s magical week.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win: 3/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
