Marta Kostyuk v Tamara Zidansek Head to Head
It’s 1-0 to Kostyuk; they last met in the 2021 WTA Abu Dhabi where the Ukrainian won 6-1, 6-1.

Number 10 seed Marta Kostyuk finds herself in an effectively open draw – at least until the quarterfinal.
Should she surpass Zidansek, she will meet the winner of the Fourlis-Stakusic match, followed by either Jasmine Paolini or one of the lower-ranked entrants in the field.
It has not been the best of the seasons for the 20-year-old Marta – who cracked the top 50 for a short while before crashing down in the rankings. Her best results include a third-round stint in the Australian Open and second-round feats in WTA 1000 events in Miami, Indian Wells, Madrid, Wimbledon, and Cincinnati.
In fact, Kostyuk was pretty decent in her last tournament in Cinci as she beat Paolini, Magdalena Frech, and Camila Giorgi as a qualifier – before losing to Jessica Pegula.
Her tally now stands at 19-14.

Zidansek, Coming off a Break
Tamara Zidansek, current World No. 82, is set to play in her first tournament in the WTA Quebec in over a month.
Her last tournament was the Ladies Open Lausanne, where she lost in the opener to Anna Kalinskaya. The Slovenian took a short break from the tour and did not feature in any preceding US Open swing events.
Having endured a season that has been highly uneventful for the most part – except for reaching the semis in Adelaide 2 and round three in the Australian Open and French Open – Zidansek is clearly low on form, momentum, and confidence.
Another thing to consider would be her possible preference for clay courts, where she has had the most success. In all likelihood, Tamara may be out of her element here.
Kostyuk v Zidansek Prediction and Tip
Kostyuk is the odds-on favourite here – for the simple reason that she has had a better season than Zidansek.
While an upset is certainly on the cards, Marta is capable enough to put up a solid fight here and not go down easy.
