Saville has looked solid all year long and that has translated into the biggest leap in the ranking for any player on the circuit. The Aussie, who was ranked 627th in the world in February, has climbed up to 73rd at the moment and could even break into the top 50 if things continued in the same vein in this competition.
Well, they seem to have continued like that for starters for sure with Saville carving out a 6-3, 6-3 win over Anna Karolina Schmiedlova in a little over an hour and a half.
Saville did have troubles with her serve and faced 10 break-points, dropping her serve twice in the process but broke her opponent on five separate occasions to complete the victory.
The Aussie had earlier made it as far as the semifinal of the Washington Open but fell in the first round of an ITF match in Bronx. She starts off a heavy favourite here against a player whose highest ranking ever is 192nd in the world.

Sebov Overturns One Set Deficit in Opener
Xinyu Wang was a heavy favourite going into her opening round match against Sebov and when the Chinese player won the first set, the writing seemed to be on the wall. Except that Sebov wasn’t done and turned things around craftily to complete the win.
Sebov, who is currently ranked outside the top 300, has been a regular on the ITF circuit this year and had only played one WTA tournament this year. It was at the Canadian Open where she had lost a fighting three-setter to Yulia Putintseva in the first round.
Here, in beating Wang 4-6, 6-4, 6-0, Sebov registered her first WTA win of the season and will now be gunning for a repeat showing.

While Sebov kept remarkable cool in overcoming her much fancied opponent in her opener, Saville be far more difficult to overcome. Expect some fight from Sebov but Saville to come through in straight sets anyway.
