Sorana Cirstea v Magda Linette Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings at the highest level between these two players and Cirstea has won them all.
Two of these matches have come on hard court surfaces while the third, which was also their latest meeting in 2021 in Strasbourg was on clay.

Cirstea Eases Past Zacarias
Cirstea was supposed to play Elise Mertens in her opening round encounter but a late withdrawal from her opponent made life that much easier for the Romanian.
The world number 38 eased through to the second round with a straight-set win over Marcela Zacarias, with the match lasting an hour and 12 minutes.
Having gotten knocked out from the first round at Prague and made just the second round in Cincinnati, Cirstea’s recent form had given rise to a few worries but she dispelled all of them breaking Zacarias in the second game of the match for starters.
Another one followed as Zacarias served to stay in the set at 2-5 as Cirstea wrapped up the set.
The second was a more evenly-fought one but the first opportunity that Cirstea got, in the eighth game, she took it to break Zacarias before serving it out.
Can she now make it two in two for the first time since the WTA Birmingham two months ago?

Linette Dispatches Putintseva
In a match that wasn’t too dissimilar from the Cirstea-Zacarias encounter, Linette was on court for an hour and 17 minutes as she took down Yulia Putintseva to move into the second round.
Linette won 6-4, 6-2 after trading breaks twice in the first set but running away with the second.
Having reached the final of an ITF event recently but lost in the Cincinnati Open qualifiers, there had been question-marks over Linette’s performance here, with the bookmakers having listed her a minor underdog at 19/20.
She, however, never fell behind in the encounter and finally carved out her first main draw win since the Prague Open last month.
