Aliaksandra Sasnovich v Madison Brengle Head to Head

Sasnovich Rallies Past Sorribes Tormo
World No. 36 Aliaksandra Sasnovich rallied past Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo in a second round match on Tuesday.
In what turned out to be a competitive match, the Belarusian lost the first set, but started the second set with a double break, only to see Sorribes Tormo draw level after six games in the set. Sasnovich, however, finished the way she started the set, winning the last three games and forcing the decider.
The third set started with consecutive breaks. Soon Sasnovich got another and then she protected the advantage to close out contest 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The two hour and 36 minute match saw Sasnovich save half of the 10 break points she faced and convert 7 of 9 she held.
The Belarusian, who was also a quarterfinalist in Cleveland last year, had beaten Aleksandra Krunić in straight sets in the first round. This will be the fifth time that she will be playing in a quarterfinal this year. Her best was a runner-up finish in Melbourne Sumer Set 2 and on Thursday, the three-time WTA finalist will aim to reach her second semifinal of the year.

Brengle Rebounds to Beat Alexandrova
Madison Brengle registered a comeback win in the second round on Wednesday to upset the third seed Ekaterina Alexandrova.
Alexandrova, who had taken the first set, had two opportunities to serve out the match, once, while she led 4-5 in the second set and once while she served for the match at 4-5 in the final set, but Brengle evaded elimination on both the occasions, breaking the Russian and going on to win both the sets.
Brengle couldn’t save any of the eight break points that she faced but she converted 9 of 16 to win the two hour and seven minute contest 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
The 32-year-old World No. 63 had begun the tournament by beating another Russian Varvara Gracheva in three sets.
She will now be playing in a second tour-level quarterfinal of the season. Her first was in Adelaide, but she had to retire from that contest. She has featured in a couple of quarterfinals at the lower level events but is yet to make the semifinals yet this year.
