Roberto Bautista Agut v JJ Wolf Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two and that came at the Indian Wells Open earlier this year. It resulted in Bautista Agut needing a third set tie-breaker to break his opponent’s game down and squeeze through to the third round.

Bautista Agut featured in both, the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Masters before coming into the US Open and while he managed to reach the third round, he would be a tad put off by the results that followed.
In Montreal, he fell to Casper Ruud in the third round. It was a match that went into a third set and had two tie-breakers – a very close encounter which could have gone either way.
This was followed by Bautista Agut starting off a 1/2 favourite against Borna Coric in the third round in Cincinnati but five games is all that Bautista Agut managed to win.
Coric did go on to win the title there but that does not take away from the fact that Bautista Agut’s performances in the bigger hard court competitions – including at the Australian Open, Indian Wells Masters and Miami Masters – have been far from excellent.

Wolf Hoping to Stall Three-Match Losing Streak
By reaching the quarterfinal at the Washington Open, Wolf looked to have done well with his US Open Series kick-off but things haven’t quite gone his way since.
He fell to Andrey Rublev in straight sets in that quarterfinal encounter before losing to Emil Ruusuvuori in the very first round at the Cincinnati Masters. And when Wolf also crashed out of the Winston-Salem opener to Dominic Thiem, Wolf would have felt a tad more disgruntled.
The good news is he put up a fight in those last two matches, and as player ranked 87th in the world, has displayed the kind of spark you expect more from a top-50 player.
He could push Bautista Agut here but will that result in a win? Doubtful.
