The last time Aleksandra Krunic won a match was on July 19th and granted she only played three more after that but it’s been a struggle fest more so than usual.
The Serbian always hovers around the top 100 mark and she simply can’t figure out things well enough to move forward.
It’s a shame because there is a pretty decent solid player in there but something just doesn’t work the way it should. She is 21-20 on the year but a terrible 2-8 on hard courts. It’s not looking very good and all hard court matches she played leading up to the US Open were lost in straight sets.
She’s never been the best on hard courts but she can certainly play well. Her game is an aggressive one but also one prone to errors. There is very little middle ground, either she plays really well and keeps matches close and wins or she just losses because she can’t control the ball enough and keep it in play.

Qualifiers Run for Avanesyan
Elina Avanesyan needed to play the qualifiers to get into the main draw and she was able to secure the main draw appearance. Two of the wins were in straight sets while one was in three sets but overall, the Russian showed a pretty decent level good enough for the main draw.
She is an up-and-coming player which will make some headlines in the future but for now, she is still trying to get into the top 100. A good run could help her and this year has certainly been a breakout season. A 33-20 record and 10-7 on hard looks pretty decent for the 20-year-old.
Like most younger players, Avanesyan takes the ball early and attacks. She calls clay her home so her game is pretty suited for that. Hard courts are a work in progress but already strong enough to win some matches. The draw gave her a struggling player so this is a huge chance for her.
Krunic v Avanesyan Prediction and Tip
This is a great chance for both players. Krunic needs a win desperately and it might come here. Avanesyan looks a bit better at the moment but she won’t be favoured here as she’s yet to prove it on the WTA level.
I think it’s close but I’ll side with the experience here.
