Lajovic Out of Form
Dusan Lajovic has won 10 matches from a possible 32 and arrives in New York with just three hard-court wins in 2022. And worryingly, none of those have been notches in recent weeks in the build-up to the tournament.
The Serbian has seen his ranking drop as low as 88, and could leave the world’s top 100 if he loses on Tuesday. Should Lajovic do so, it would mark the first time in seven years that he will have a three-digit ranking in the standings.
Lajovic is clearly struggling for confidence. But he can make this match a little more competitive than what the odds suggest and he will definitely need a huge slice of luck to get the upset, much like his first-round victory over Carreno Busta at Wimbledon, which was a result of a retirement.
