Kaja Juvan was below par at the two WTA tournaments she played just before the US Open. She hardly played a lot of matches, missing out on the qualifying rounds in Canada and not taking a chance to play in San Jose.

Juvan, by contrast, played exceptionally well in the first half of the season. She was very productive on hard courts and clay. The 21-year-old reached her first WTA final in Strasbourg and lost narrowly to Angelique Kerber.

Bucsa Qualifies for the US Open Again
CristinaBucsa reached the main draw of the US Open for the second year in a row after navigating her way past three opponents in qualifying.
The Spanish clay-courter was simply too good for the American Saschia Vickery, winning that match 6-4 6-2. She was very aggressive behind the return and looked to attack Vickery at almost every opportunity.
She fashioned 10 break points and converted five, while she was very protective of her won delivery. Busca saved three of five break points on her serve and averaged about 68% of first-serve points won.
The 24-year-old has won nine matches across all levels on hard courts this month and pushed Simona Halep in Washington, taking eight games off the Romanian former World No. 1.
Juvan v Bucsa Prediction and Tip
After her embarrassing loss in Granby, Juvan should be back to the drawing board. But this first-round match at the US Open does not offer her any room for respite.
