Barbora Krejcikova v Aleksandra Krunic Head to Head

World No. 23 Barbora Krejcikova is off to a good start at the Flushing Meadows as she dispatched Fernanda Contreras Gomez 6-0, 6-4 in a little under 90 minutes.
The Czech dished out 23 winners, although she did commit 25 unforced errors to Gomez’s 17. Nonetheless, she is through to round two and looks determined to keep going.
Barbora has endured a whirlwind season, reaching her career-best ranking as World No. 2 in February and now out of the top 20 due to injuries.
Her record for the year now stands at 15-12, as the Czech arrived in New York on the back of a largely uneventful US Open swing.
She lost in the first round in Toronto and Cincinnati, while in Cleveland last week, she succumbed to the rising American Bernarda Pera 6-4, 6-1 in round two.
Although Krejcikova won the doubles at the Australian Open and Wimbledon with Katerina Siniakova, her recent rut may make it difficult for her to translate some of that success into a good run here.

Krunic Moves Past Avanesyan
World No. 96 Aleksandra Krunic defeated Elina Avanesyan 6-4, 6-4 to kickstart her US Open journey.
The 29-year-old Serbian hasn’t had the best of the season so far, with her tally now at 16-20. She had lost her last two matches in Cincinnati and Cleveland to Marie Bouzkova and Aliaksandra Sasnovich.
Her saving grace has been a runner-up feat in Budapest that brought her back to the top 100. However, on the whole, Krunic hasn’t been the most consistent performer in 2022 and finds herself facing a tough match.
