Daria Snigur v Rebecca Marino

Daria Snigur did really well to defeat Simona Halep in three sets and despite her good play a lot of credit goes to Halep. The Romanian produced a very poor effort not being able to find any good rhythm and smacking the ball wide too many times.

Snigur has a very precise playstyle pushing the ball across the court and forcing you to come up with solutions. Marino had a good start to her US Open and while generally won’t gift her opponent as many mistakes as Halep did due to a less aggressive playstyle she might face some of the same issues.

A fairly tall player, Marino is known for her good movement. Snigur will try to move her around the court and if she is consistent enough with that, Marino will be in a lot of trouble. There is an emotional component to this match as well because the Ukrainian will need to balance her emotions well before this match.

Overall it’s a great chance for Snigur and it’s one I do think she’ll take. Even comfortably in two sets seems rather realistic but the match win is definitely a safer option.

Tip: Snigur to win in straight sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Daniel Galan v Jordan Thompson

Daniel Galan did really well to defeat Stefanos Tsisipas in a match where he destroyed him with his return. Galan was aggressive and everything worked in his favour in that match. It’s not expected to happen again but there is enough in there for him to fancy a win here.

Thompson is one of the most unpredictable tennis players on the Tour. A very good game generally gets easily overshadowed by his moody nature which has him playing anything but consistent tennis consistently. Galan actually has the better record on hard courts this year despite Thompson having far more major experience.

It should be a close contest either way because the Colombian will probably come down back to normal a bit with Thompson giving a decent effort. I do think the Aussie will win at least a set but I do think Galan’s dream debut will give him enough belief to take this one.

Tip: Galan to win AND Both players to win a set: 8/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Tommy Paul v Sebastian Korda

A very fascinating matchup between two young Americans is coming up. Sebastian Korda is the slight favourite despite Tommy Paul having a few decent weeks recently and being the higher-ranked player. It’s a tricky matchup for several reasons.

Paul and Kord are similar players and play similar tennis however Korda seems to have a higher ceiling. He’s won all three of their matches but two of those were very close. I expect something similar here because both lack the consistency to play a complete match without their form dropping off in the middle of it.

Paul played a bit better today but he also threw away a clear win against Shapovalov last week which is problematic. Both struggled a bit in round one so neither is in that great of a form. It’s just a tricky thing to call and might come down to preference.

We’re leaning Paul but it will be close.

Tip: Paul to win: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
