Danielle Collins v Alize Cornet Head to Head
It is 1-0 to Collins; they last met in the Australian Open quarterfinal earlier this season, where the American won 7-5, 6-1.

Home favourite, World No. 19 Danielle Collins has had a good start to the US Open as she beat the likes of Naomi Osaka and Cristina Bucsa in straight sets.
She was pretty much on point with Bucsa as she won 82% of the points behind the first serve and struck 28 winners while committing only 17 unforced errors.
Interestingly, Danielle arrived in New York without participating in any of the build-up tournaments. Her last event was the Ladies Open Lausne in July (first-round loss to Simona Waltert in three sets). The reason for this was a neck injury which she incurred, and as a result, she took time to recover.
So far, by the looks of it, she is in good shape and looks poised to go further.
Collins is now 14-8 this year, with the runner-up feat in the Australian Open being her high point. Since then, the 28-year-old has participated in only seven tournaments – with the best result being a quarterfinal run in Miami.
She was beaten in the opening rounds in her last five events.

Cornet Moves Past Siniakova
Alize Cornet found herself in a rocky three-setter with Katerina Siniakova, but she ultimately won 6-1, 1-6, 6-3. Her saving grace proved to be Siniakova’s 45 unforced errors (compared to Cornet’s 28) and a superior first-service win rate at 80%.
The 32-year-old is now 22-20 and arrived at the Flushing Meadows following a semifinal run in Cleveland.
That was among her better performances of the season, given that she was dismissed in the early rounds of several tournaments. The exceptions to this are Bad Homburg (semifinal) and the Aus Open (maiden major quarterfinal in 16 years of playing).
The heavily experienced Cornet has beaten several prominent players over her career – notably Serena Williams, Paula Badosa, Simona Halep, and Garbine Muguruza.
Collins v Cornet Prediction and Tip
Collins is the clear favourite here; she has the home advantage and is certainly skilled enough to move past Cornet.
That said, the Frenchwoman can surprise and will not go down easy. Expect a cracking affair.
