Casper Ruud v Corentin Moutet
Both Casper Ruud and Corentin Moutet had a tricky time getting here losing sets in pretty much all the matches they played. Ruud had a far tougher road to get here due to his draw being much harder but he was able to escape a very inspired effort from Tommy Paul.
The Norwegian is playing well in New York and he’s looking quite motivated. Moutet is a good opponent for a spot in the quarterfinal as the French player realistically should not be here. His fatigue level will be important after spending over four hours battling Paul.
I think he will have some smaller lingering effects and I could see Moutet taking advantage of it. I don’t think he can beat him as Ruud is simply too solid for that. We are likely looking at four sets here with the Norwegian pulling out a win.
Tip: Ruud to win AND Both players to win a set: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Daniil Medvedev v Nick Kyrgios
Many think there are about four favourites to win this year’s US Open and both Medvedev and Kyrgios are among those names. This is like a final before the proper final and fans can’t wait for this one. It’s even more interesting after they recently played in Montreal with Kyrgios emerging victorious in that one.
We saw a full battle so three sets and another close one is expected here. Both are playing on a very high level but Medvedev has had deep runs before in New York with Nick experiencing his first one. Both had fabulous seasons so far and there is very little separation.
The serve will be crucial for both and Medvedev admitted after the match that his serve and his return will decide the match. I’m really not sure which player could win this one but there is great value in backing a 5-set match here because very little separates them.
Four sets are guaranteed but let’s back the 5 and hope it happens.
Tip: Five sets in the match: 5/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Matteo Berrettini v Alejandro Davidovich Fokina
Matteo Berrettini broke out at the US Open a few years ago and since then the Italian is in the top of tennis and he’s doing it again this year. Beating Andy Murray in four sets confirmed Berrettini is once again looking really strong in New York as it’s his best grand slam alongside Wimbledon.
Davidovich Fokina played solid last year and he’s once again found some decent form here. He’s a very streaky player and usually goes between parts of the season where he’s good and bad. He was quite poor leading up to this event but obviously feels a lot of confidence in New York.
This is an interesting matchup between players who played once before and it happened last year in Monte-Carlo. Fokina won that on clay but this matchup is on hard courts and Berrettini is favoured to win it. I agree and I think he’ll do it without dropping a set.
He has the better serve and is more consistent. Should be enough.
Tip: Berrettini to win in straight sets: 6/4 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
