Jessica Pegula v Petra Kvitova Head to Head
There have been two previous matches between Pegula and Kvitova before this and the senior player from Czech Republic has won them both.
Both those encounters came in hard court competitions, including one at the 2020 US Open and another at the 2021 Doha, with Kvitova not dropping a set.

Having not made it to court since her first round match on Tuesday because of a second round walkover, Kvitova was obviously the fresher of the two players. And that’s what helped her when the match went into a final set tie-breaker.
In what turned out to be a humdinger of a contest, Kvitova overcame Muguruza 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (10) in two hours and 41 minutes. She prevented Muguruza from serving for the match at 5-4 in the final set and then saved two match-points on her own serve in the 12th game of the decider.
In the match tie-breaker that followed, Kvitova frittered away three match-points of her own before an unforced error from the Muguruza racquet ended her chances.
Kvitova had earlier overcome Erika Andreeva in the first round before Anhelina Kalinina withdrew from their second round encounter because of an injury.
Interestingly, Kvitova is 1/1 (with bet365) to overcome Pegula. She has already won a couple of Grand Slams in her career, but never gone beyond the quarterfinal at the US Open.

Pegula Stretched by Yuan
Having come into her third round match against the virtually unheralded Yue Yuhan as a 3/20 favourite, Pegula looked to be headed in that direction when she grabbed the first set with much ease.
However, once Pegula had missed out on converting two break-points in the opening game of the second set, her game dropped and as did her serve. Pegula did push the set into a tie-breaker but a missed match-point allowed Yuan to clinch the equaliser.
Pegula used that as a kick up her back-side as she ran amok in the final set, breaking her opponent three times to complete a three-set win – 6-2, 6-7 (6), 6-0 in a little over two hours.
Against Kvitova, Pegula (8/11 to win this with bet365) will need to do a lot better given her opponent’s good form – she was a Cincinnati Open finalist too – to go with the head-to-head edge the Czech possesses.
